October 2023 Branch Meeting - The Ortho-Perio Interface

A reminder to ADA members, this meeting will be held at Remuera Golf Club.

Drs Mo Al-Dujaili, Azza Al-Ani, James Dawson and Poppy Horne present "The Ortho-Perio Interface".

The talk will give an overview of interactions that exist between these two disciplines. Commonly when a clinician sees adult patients, difficult clinical situations present where both the periodontium and underlying malocclusions pose complex presentations that require a multidisciplinary approach to maximise the treatment outcomes.

The relationships between teeth alignment and the periodontium will be explored, with a mixture of an evidence-based approach and clinical case presentations from both the perspective of periodontists and orthodontists.

Learning outcomes:

  • Enable a clinician to recognise the interactions between orthodontics and periodontics.
  • Appreciate the importance of early diagnosis.
  • Encourage a multidisciplinary approach to treatment planning and execution.
  • Appraise clinical cases and the evidence that can influence clinical decisions.
