ADA General Meeting - June 2020 - Endodontics

Topic:  An evaluation of the current trends in diagnosis and treatment of fractured teeth

This lecture will explore the biological basis of various fractures of the teeth that present to our clinics regularly.  The talk will include discussions on

  • Endo/Perio lesions
  • Clinical relevance and the current methods of diagnosis and teatment modalities. 

About our presenter:  Dr Abdul Aziz, (BDS, DClinDent – Endodontics, Otago NZ)

Dr Aziz graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1995. Dr Aziz followed his passion for endodontics and completed Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) in Endodontics at the University of Otago in 2009. Dr Aziz practised as a specialist endodontist in Melbourne before choosing to return to NZ 2010 and to set up a private specialist endodontic practice. Currently, Dr Aziz is completing a Master’s in Business Administration.

Abdul AzizDr Aziz has published articles in international and local endodontic journals. He has also authored a chapter in Methods of Molecular Biology textbook.

Dr Aziz has presented many seminars and lectures both in New Zealand and internationally. Dr Aziz is a certified VDW Germany endodontic trainer. Dr Aziz is also one of the Key Opinion Leaders in Endodontics for Henry Schein.

He is the co-ordinator for the Auckland branch of Graduate Professional Development Programme for New Zealand Dental Association since 2014. His role is to teach the young first-year graduates about ethics, morals, wellbeing, and legislation that governs dentists. He also guides them and helps them with the rigours of everyday dentistry. Dr Aziz has recently accepted an appointment to teach at the School of Dentistry, Manukau branch.

Dr Aziz is the vice president for the Auckland Dental Association, a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and New Zealand Society of Endodontology.

He is one of the founding members and an executive member for Smiles for The Pacific, a charitable voluntary organisation for dental teaching, training and treatment for the people of Fiji.

Abdul and his wife Saleena have three sons. Abdul enjoys cooking and most forms of sports, but his passion lies in fishing and watching All Blacks rugby.
