“The Management of Horizontal Root Fractures”
Dental trauma is often just that, traumatic.
Traumatic root fractures are defined as fractures involving the dentine, cementum and pulp and are one of the less common forms of dental injuries from 0.5 to 7%. Root fractures are characterized by the separation of an apical segment, not usually displaced, and a coronal portion. When root-fractured teeth are managed appropriately with repositioning and stabilization, the prognosis for healing is favourable.
Management of horizontal root fractures will be presented along with several cases.
“Magnification in Endodontics”
Magnification in dentistry is not new.
Dental loupes in their various guises have been available for many years. Magnification allows for improved vision and we are now able to see things that could have otherwise been missed, and if missed, may have a significant impact on the outcome of treatment.
The most available form of magnification is loupes and these have become a standard requirement for most clinicians.
The operating dental microscope offers a greater level of magnification. Advantages and disadvantages of both systems will be discussed.
